From Vision to Reality: TPF Leadership visits Seawater Desalination Plant in Dakar
On 3rd February, TPF's Executive Chairman, Thomas Spitaels, alongside Carlos Baião (CEO, TPF Consultores) and Joao Nunes (Director of International Markets, TPF Consultores), visited the Mamelles Desalination Plant currently under construction in Dakar.
They were guided by Moustapha Ndoye (General Director) and Moustapha Ndiour (Technical Director) of TPF Senegal, who provided an insightful overview of the project's progress. The visit underscored the critical importance of desalination technology in bringing drinking water to regions facing scarcity.
The plant, which is expected to be commissioned later this year, is designed for an initial capacity of 50,000 m³/day, expandable to 100,000 m³/day. This will secure a reliable drinking water supply for approximately one million people in the region.
TPF is particularly proud to contribute to this goal, providing consultancy and supervision services.
Financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the comprehensive scope of the project also includes:
🔹 Upgrading and extending the existing drinking water network (243 km).
🔹 Installing a new main distribution pipeline (13.5 km).
🔹 Deploying a cutting-edge remote management system to optimize water distribution.
This landmark project reinforces TPF's long-standing expertise in the water sector and in the strategic field of seawater desalination.
This day was also an excellent opportunity to meet with our local staff to discuss ongoing projects and future goals.
A sincere thanks to the entire team who made this business trip a success!
